HIDPoint SMP support 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi.

As I take it, HIDPoint does not support SMP kernels. Does this mean that if I were to try HIDPoint on a quad-core CPU, I would need to use a kernel that did not take advantage of the additional three cores in order for HIDPoint to run?

If this is true, how far away is support for SMP kernels?

We have added support for the smp kernels. This will be included in the next HIDPoint Build. The new build available by the end the month (if everything goes well).

Please let us know what disto and kernel version you are using, so that we can ensure it makes it makes it in the next build.

I'll be mainly using HIDPoint with Arch Linux but may also install Ubuntu and Gentoo on the new PC I'm getting, however the latter two will simply exist for learning purposes (if at all) - Arch Linux is the distro I [primarily] use at the moment.

Therefore, an Arch Linux package will be appreciated, although I don't need one; I could just as easily manually unpack a .rpm or .deb, although the files will not be registered in a package database (as Arch doesn't use .rpm or .deb, it uses its own format, .pkg). Fortunately, Arch is easy to create packages for: the makepkg and PKGBUILD man pages have more information on how to do this.

In terms of a kernel version, I'll use whatever the newest version that HIDPoint (or whatever other software I install that limits my kernel version) can handle. Given no limitations, I'll use whatever will check out from source control, compile and run stably, aka 2.6.26, so if HIDPoint requires an older version, please do make a note of this.
